Our Story

By God's grace. For God's glory.

The story of Veritas Church is a testimony to God’s incredible grace and provision. While few would think to plant a church in a small town like Urbana, Iowa, in God’s kingdom there are no little people and no little places. What began as a church plant in Iowa City led to a new church in Cedar Rapids — and from there, to the planting of Veritas Church in Urbana. We are eager to see where the Lord will lead us next, all for His glory.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, a small, organic gathering of families in Vinton began streaming services from Veritas Church Cedar Rapids. United by a shared desire for a church deeply rooted in Scripture, passionate about worship, and committed to reaching the next generation, they longed to make a Kingdom impact in Benton County. As this grassroots gathering outgrew a local garage, it moved to the Palace Theater in April 2021. Shortly after, the elders of Veritas Church Cedar Rapids met with several core couples from the group. These families chose to join Veritas Church Cedar Rapids, and together they partnered with its elders to pursue the goal of planting a church in Benton County. By October 2021, interest meetings were underway for what would become Veritas Church Urbana.

Our Vision

We’re praying for God to use us to make a regional, statewide, and global impact. As a church committed to the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18–20), we long to see a disciple-making movement that results in more churches planted and more missionaries sent —because our God is worthy to be worshiped by every nation, tribe, people, and language.
