Before Jesus Changed My Life
Before placing my faith in Jesus, my life was very selfish, and I often sought self-gratification through success in sports or by obtaining worldly things. I have a beautiful family, a stable career, more friends than I can count — blessings upon blessings — but I was never satisfied and was always chasing the next thing. Looking back, I can see that sin was at the root of that, as I was constantly pursuing things that could never truly satisfy.
How Jesus Changed My Life
The process of the gospel beginning to really make sense for me was laid out over a fairly long time frame. A few years ago, after moving back to Alburnett and after being gone for that one year, things started to really make sense to me. It was obvious that God was placing certain people in my life and working through specific circumstances. Certain things in my life were taking place, such as our house not selling and my wife getting her job back at the Alburnett School District. Once we moved back, we began to grow close to the Waring family and started to attend Veritas on a more frequent basis.
Over the last couple of years of coming to Veritas, being around good families and hearing the Good News, it became clear to me that the one thing in life I was chasing could never be won or bought. What I truly needed was the Good News of the gospel and Jesus Christ. By God’s grace, I came to recognize my sin and my need for a Savior, and I placed my faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of my sins.
My Life After Jesus Saved Me
Life has become much more enjoyable and meaningful. I have been able to enjoy my day-to-day life knowing my faith is in Jesus, not in the things of this world. My family life has gone to places I never would have expected, and the friendships I have made with new people have been incredible blessings.
