Before Jesus Changed My Life

Before I met Jesus, my focus was on my performance in sports and school. I was easygoing and mainly wanted to hang out with friends and be the humorous one in the group. I grew up going to church — though not really in a Christian household — and participated in traditions simply because they were traditions, not because I understood or cared about their meaning. I attended a private Christian middle and high school, but I associated God with homework and a boring weekly chapel service. I was more interested in being entertained than in learning about God or growing in my faith.

How Jesus Changed My Life

The first time I heard the Gospel as I believe it today was during a chapel service early in middle school. It didn’t begin to sink in until later in high school, after repeated exposure and the influence of believers around me. I can’t recall a specific moment when it suddenly clicked and everything changed; instead, God worked in me gradually, producing changes in my beliefs, desires, and actions.

My Life After Jesus Saved Me

Since coming to faith, life has been more fulfilling, and I now live with a sense of purpose. It’s as if I’ve put on new glasses for the first time, allowing me to see the world and sin for what they truly are — sickening in God’s sight. Practically, I’ve become a regular attender of church, found “my people” in godly community, and begun practicing spiritual rhythms. My first inclination is now to consider God’s plan for my life and Jesus’ sacrifice before I act. I feel compelled to share the Gospel with others as a faithful servant of God.
